Cerebral Palsy

Dealing with medical malpractice cases can prove to be intimidating and strenuous for the victim, partially because of the devastating consequences that occur as a result of medical malpractice and/or negligence. Gabriel Assaad has the experience required to help you work through the ins and outs of your case. He has an extensive background of dealing with medical malpractice cases in Washington, DC, Virginia and Maryland.

Cerebral palsy is a group of permanent disorders of the development of movement and posture. It can cause limitations on activity and growth. Cerebral Palsy can result from pregnancy complications during labor. A common misconception is that cerebral palsy only occurs during pregnancy or childbirth, but it can occur up to age 3. A baby with cerebral palsy will develop at a slower rate than others, however, that is not always an indication of cerebral palsy, other symptoms include:

  • Limited range of motion
  • Spasticity
  • Muscle contractions
  • Seizures
  • Joint contractures
  • Difficulty crawling
  • Difficulty walking
  • Difficulty reaching
  • Difficulty sitting

Along with those early signs, once the baby is a toddler, they will begin to show signs of difficulty in seeing, speaking, feeding, breathing, and/or hearing. This permanent disability can hinder your family and your child for the rest of your life. If your child is suffering from cerebral palsy, you may be entitled to compensation. Medical malpractice, although not the only cause of cerebral palsy, may have played a role in your child’s current state.

If you or someone you know has a child who has suffered a birth injury, such as Cerebral Palsy, contact Gabriel Assaad for a birth injury consultation. He will work to understand your situation and fight inside and out of the courtroom to see that you get all that you deserve.
